Ok,so the night I went to the grocery store, the night my computer died,I came home, put the groceries away and started hearing a meow.
Well, the neighbors across the way have a cat that comes down every once in awhile.I go out talk to her,pet her and she goes on her way. So,I went outside, our outside lights aren't working,it was extremely dark, and she's a black cat.So after awhile,I gave up and came back inside.
But the meowing went on and on.It became more of a panic meow.Part of our house has a very small crawl space.I thought maybe she had gotten herself in a part she didn't know how to get out of.So,out comes the hammer,a big screw driver, and a very sharp knife.
I had all my gear for my rescue.I knew just where she was.We had this hole where we were going to have a heat duct...never finished.I just knew she was there.During the two hours of hammering, sawing and swearing,my poor little dog was also in a panic. He's recently lost most of his hearing,so he didn't know what was going on.I knew he couldn't hear the cat crying, but he could see me banging away and he started crying I guess wanting to know why I was trying to escape that way when I could just use the front door.
One of my cats could hear the cat meowing and she was all over the place answering.Ah,I broke through.I took that damn useless piece of duct work and threw it under the house and knew the cat would be right tthere. Then, there was the scratching within the walls, followed by the meowing.
Ok,this can't be.The stupid bedroom on the other side of the wall had once been a porch, this was an originally an outside wall.I was obviously delerious.I then heard scratching inside our bedroom wall.
So,time to rethink.I have 2 cats.Where was the other one.Of course she'd be afraid, she hates alot of noise. And at times, she hides in a closet upstairs. In that closet, for some unknown reason there is a door that leads to an area above the kitchen.
I went upstairs, checked the closet and that area, nothing. But,now upstairs,I hear a meow behind the wall,an outside wall. We've lived in this house 15yrs,have had 5 cats and never, ever had this happened before. So,I was sitting on the floor, exhausted after 3 hrs and now it was almost 3am.
So,I took a lamp in the closet and called for my cat hoping she'd find her way following my voice.Within 5 minutes she came out.
That night, she kept jumping up in bed,I think she was in shock.
I've blocked that closet until I get it fixed.I don't know how she didn't get stuck in the walls. She's a very large cat.
I've always hated that closet. It's at an angle, attic bedroom.Hit my head so many times I've wanted to take a sledge hammer to it....not a bad idea at this point.
