We had cool little candle holders, in the shape of flowers, that held the candles as they got smaller.

I still keep the candles. You mean I could be throwing them away? ;O)

Our Mother's went through the Depression. It's interesting how often I find myself "saving" something, and then wondering why. I have a friend that carefully scraped every smidge of butter off the wrapper before throwing it away. One day she stopped, shuttered, and said, "what in the heck am I doing??". She and huz make great money, and there she was, saving smidges of butter! Our Moms taught us well!

Do you know that I still re-use my birthday candles. I've never stopped & thought about it. My mother did it & I've continued on.

I think I stopped because my oldest daughter's bd is in April,the other two are in Oct & Nov,so I probably couldn't find them between April and Oct.

But,it's funny the things we do and don't ever think of why.Just because mom did.

Scraping the butter off the wrapper is funny.I wonder if there are other things.Can anyone think of anything else?

Oh, don't get me started here. Mom saved everything! I inherited it all, and can't stand to throw it away.

A package of Mortgage bills from 1947 to pay off in 1977 (the payment was less than we pay for taxes now). Pay stubs from her work effort during the war. A cigarbox filled with cigarette coupons. I already posted on TBD about the 254 postage stamps. Magazines, clothes, my first purse, games and dolls (including a 2nd year Barbie)..she saved it all!!!

...I need a bigger storage unit!

Have you thought of taking those pay stubs and framing them or are they in a scrapbook,seems like something like that would be worthy of saving.

A former business partner of ours,an elderly doctor,had a beautiful home.We went there a few times.When we went into the "office" part of his home,it was what had been part of a closet.(figure that out,they had a huge house,he could've had a bedroom for an office)

Anyway,I looked up on the shelf above his computer and there were boxes,all green,the size of shoe boxes,dated by the year.I don't know what papers he kept in there,but they went back like,50 yrs.

I get rid of everything,tax stuff I keep for 7-10yrs,then,gone.Still,I have 2 drawers in the kitchen besides my silverware drawers,how the junk keeps getting back in.I should just nail them shut or maybe I'll glue the shut

I didn't mention she was a "Rosie the Riviter". She made B-24's at Willow Run.
