Happy on my Anniversary,31 years together

I am so fortunate to have found the right person to share my life with at such a young age.So many thought we wouldn't make it,but here we are...raised 3 beautiful daughters,have 4 gorgeous,wonderful grandchildren.

My love for my husband is grows stronger as the years go by...I look forward to many more.

Happy Anniversary Marge and Kelly! As Lynne says it is nice to hear a story of accomplishment. Any words of wisdom would be appreciated! I'm only 10 months into a relationship, and my average is between 5 to 6 years. Sigh.

Hi Brine,

Words of wisdom,hmm...alot of patience,both people.In our case,we got married young.I was a month from my 20th birthday,my husband was 20.

We kind of "grew up together".But I think in any relationship,you both come with your own set of expectations.

Both my husband and I came from very disfunctional,large families.We had no idea of how to be in a good relationship.

We had to learn to listen to each other.We had to learn compromise,respect and to work together.

We then had kids.Thankfully we agreed on how to raise our daughters,had we had any sons,God only knows...

Marriage is work.Of course,being with right person helps.It is a partnership.

My oldest daughter has been married 11 yrs.My son-in-law is a very hands on parent.I've seen them grow up together,they were high school sweethearts.

But they have always worked together.They had to learn that,though.

They talk about everything.They also have always taken time for each other.They go out on dates.They take a weekend together a couple of times a year.

They take a vacation as family.They have family time.

She has her girls' night out and he takes time out with the guys.

A relationship can't be taken for granted.It has to be nurtrured.

I'd say your average in a relationship is what is true of most.Now,some people stay together,but really,the relationship is let go.It's at that point I think,it's just easier to give up,rather than working at it.

Best wishes in your current relationship.If you look back at past partners,is there a pattern?Since your current one is so new,maybe looking back could help you avoid those patterns.
