Your generation:What would you like it to be remembered for,for your children,grandchildren to know

When I went to school,I learned alot about my parents generation.WWII,the Great Depression.

When my kids went to school,and my grandkids,nothing of my generation.They really do not know much about it.

I tell my kids,watch the history channel,there are so many good programs on there that can at least give them a sense of what was going on when I was growing up.Vietnam,civil rights,so much conflict.

Peace movement.I had a brother in Vietnam,yet I can understand my cousin,who's dad had a career in the air force(up until then) when my cousin became a conscious objector.

I have to ponder the answer to my own question as to what I'd like my generation to be remembered for.I do know,I'd like them to be known of.

I want them to remember the ending of the Vietnam war. I want them to know about Watergate, so they never hold politicians in awe... or call them "Savior" or "Messiah". I want them to know how we got Bin Laden. I want them to remember Apollo Space Missions.

I want them to understand that mine was the first generation to come of age worse off economically than their parents. Ever.

That way, they can forgive the poverty they grew up in and the inheritance they will not have.

Just off the top of my head; I'm too pooped to ponder this morning.

I want my children ( and possible grandchildren if I should ever have any in time for them to remember me.. LOL) love, laughter, that all things happen for a reason and the only failure they can have is not learning from it. I want them to protect this country and it's freedoms, to honor their heros, to learn from history, to make this place a better place, to think of others, to be kind, loving, funny and learn something new everyday, I want them to remember the good, learn from the bad and celebrate their successes. I want them to take pleasure in all the beauty and freedom that we are fortunate enough to be surrounded with. I want them to know that their mother lived every day with a commitment to her family, her friends and herself.

Oh sorry.. misread the question.. thought you asked what I wanted to be remembered for.. Humm what do I want my generation. I will have to think about that for a bit and get back to you..

i would like for my children to know (and, being 22 and 16..they ask all the time about my youth)that my generation instituted change, huge change. the womens' movement, the war on racisim and hatred that continues sadly today, (age appropriate)the sexual revolution,just the need for change in everything. my generation turned it all upside down. no longer did we feel that everyone had to be categorized..freedom "to be" (along w/responsibility)was essential. i want them to know of the great music that came from that time that has had huge impact on today's music. and, yes, i want them to know about vietnam, kent state,draft card burning..things too numerous to put down here. i'm very proud to have lived in those times..the 50's,60's, the 70's.
