NFA - National Fibromyalgia Association

I am subscribed to this site and get a newsletter once a month. September is pain awareness month for those that don't get this information. It is a wonderful site for answers if anyone wants to check it out.

www.prohealth.com is a good site also. You can sign up for fibromyalgia or anyother similar group for help and support.

wow I do not have fibro myalgia

It is a painful debilitating disease

really hard to help the person

pain meds are given a lot

but if you use pain meds for treatment for long term that medicne

in some csases causes even more pain

loooking into anti depressnts

it will help with the pain working

on making their life more then just pain

Yes it is very painful and for many can be debilitating. I have friends that are bed ridden over this.

Roxanne - are you in the medical field? You are right that FM is a painful debilitating disease. You mention that it is really hard to help a person. Do you mean medically or personally? Antidepressants help control the pain. If you mean personally, I can suggest some things: Ask if you can cut their grass, pull weeds, wash windows, walls, vacuum, do dishes. Any one of these everyday things takes strength away to do things that are enjoyable, and without being able to do something enjoyable depression and loneliness creeps in, sometimes all too fast. I have a lot of other stressors contributing to my depression but right now I can hardly get out of bed. What do you do when it just doesn't seem worth it to get up? It is so hard right now. I know the feelings I just have to push myself. I'm fixing to be returning to the doctor and going back on my medications...I'm caught in a viscious circle right now of the stress making the pain worse which keeps me from sleeping which increases the stress. What gets me out of bed right now is if I don't work then I lose what precious little I have since I only have me to count on for my things. My son is there but he shares in the house expenses but I still have to pay my share of things. Its just us as I recently kicked out my SO for lying to me and I've lost a lot of so called friends over that one...
