Psa 121:4 Behold, he that keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.
The most frequent question I have ever had directed at me since making the Internet my primary outreach has been, "Do you ever sleep?" After a marathon 14-16 hours yesterday, on and off, the answer then appears apparent. Perhaps the more appropriate word would be crash.
God assures me that no one falls through the cracks just because I take much needed times of refreshment because my outreach is not about me, but Good News from God. And I want to remind you that when you lay your head down to sleep, the Holy Spirit still gently hovers over you keeping guard. That is the "behind the scenes" work that God does when we acknowledge that God doesn't crash and burn, but is busy at work, providing the evidence of things not yet seen in our lives.
If the veil that is between us and evil were to be drawn back for a moment or two, we would be startled at all the ill that we have been spared from. And if that veil as Moses had to wear because he was so illuminated from being in God's Presence that the people feared to look upon him, were drawn back for a moment or two from us, we would see all the behind the scenes work God does, despite circumstances, working all things out for good, not only on our behalf, but for those we are involved with.
Are you hesitant to believe me? No, I think you will go with on your gut instinct on this one as God calls to your memory an instance or two where you felt His timing was perfect in your life and that He was indeed standing guard over you. What is the more difficult to perceive rather than God never sleeps, is that God has the time on His hands to devote to you personally when there are so many others more worthy of attention and detail.
We may not know it all, but God does. We may have days that seem like they do not have enough hours in it, and others far too many; not so with God. We will have days that display our mental or emotional instability, but God is still where the action is in our life strengthening us for the journey.
I try to recall names of those that I have met in my life, or at least whom I am familiar with currently, and for the life of me, sometimes I can't; yet God knows you intimately by name. God neither slumbers nor sleeps, He also doesn't plan on that much needed vacation this year that we are daydreaming about. He is open for business, plenteous available 24 X 7, and you will never need doubt His "on call" status when a need arises, or when you just feel like shooting the breeze with Him.
Jesus gave us access to come boldly to the throne of grace. He awaits you and the welcome mat is always out. He is in touch with you even when you are not cognitive of it. How about just giving Jesus a quick thank you for that alone?
