My hubby thinks you are asking if there is a culture within a culture and should it be that way? God never, ever leaves us without a Scripture so I can supply that if pressed. He thinks you are referring to wheels within wheels.

To clarify. YES, your hubby is correct I am asking if we should embrace this sort of "Sub-Culture" and if in fact there is any sort of command from scripture that tells us to depart from our culture as a whole.

This is not simply "being in and not of the world" sort of ting but going out and deliberately setting up a parallel entity.

When I went into Christian radio it was by choice...I became a believer in 1988 and shortly thereafter went on to work in the Christian music industry, eventually founding a couple record labels and building a couple radio stations with various groups.

Bring hubby along for the ride...this could be fun!

Ha! DH is going to love you when he awakens from his nap. He feels excluded from the mind think of the typical TBD'er. But to keep you on your toes, I offer this and wonder who it is that this could be spoken to (church as it appears, and God in a box, or one's own personal calling to go ye into all the world?)

I think it is spoken to everyone you mentioned...at least from my perspective.

That is actually one of the goals of HumbleORadio...when it gets up and going again...is to be a conversation place to bring people into the conversation without having to know a lingo or password or anything like that.

Christ gave us a big table to sit around...He wants everyone there...If we speak a different lingo then those "in the world" how effective its that?

And the Kings English is beautiful and powerful and poetic and so much more...so it shouldn't be removed from the conversation at all...BUT most people in our culture are not all that well versed with it and it is hard to understand sometimes.

So I don't mean to imply that it all has to be "hip, happening, the latest, whatever" but I guess I take the approach of Luther and Calvin and even Jesus who went into the streets and spoke the language that the masses could understand.

I know I am unique...thanks for appreciating that! ;)

BTW, because I am unique I am writing a book of humorous essays about life and faith called "Individually Warped"...I only have a handful of the essays completed...and I need to have maybe 20 more to make the book complete...so say a prayer for me in that endeavor too!

Hey HumbleO, The late Francis Shaffer, was a proponent of approaching each generation in their own language. I think he also addresses your question specifically, in his writings. Which book I am not sure.

I think that we have different callings, and strengths, some of us can work in a worldly setting, such as the music industry. But the dangers of compromise are real. I battle this daily, with extended family, and my work, and have failed much to often. And my work, is more mundane, and less tempting than your career.

This is an interesting subject to me right now. Currently my oldest son (28), and his fiance, are in a wonderful and talented worship team, at his church. While they also create, perform and record secular music. I think that this is actually growing his faith and character, believe it or not.....Jack
