Dear Group, starting January 1, 2008 I will present a daily study I wrote many years ago. It will be presented over the course of 49 days. Join in at your liesure.
A parable is a simple story designed to illustrate a spiritual and moral truth. Our Savior chose to teach by using parables, in fact there is a total of 49 different parables illustrated by Him in the New Testament.
Mark 4:2 says, “He [Jesus] taught them many things by parables,” and Luke 8:10 infers that He spoke to His insiders and inner circle of believers to keep the hardened of heart from understanding the mysteries of God. “He [Jesus] said, ‘The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of God has been given to you, but to others I speak in parables, so that, "`though seeing, they may not see; though hearing, they may not understand.' “ (Lk. 8:10)
Jesus calls His teachings the secrets of the Kingdom of God. Would you like to learn and understand these secret things?

Good morning, Mizz Editor,
I'm mainly replying to this so I can find it again in the days to come...<G>
I'm looking forward to the next 49 days and, gosh, the next 49 after that...
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing in psalms, hymns and spiritual songs (and parables). -- Colossians 3:16

Hello Jaki64! This is going to be more fun and instructional than I could ever have imagined. I really do need the refresher for myself, so y'all will be helping me out more than you know.
Now if we can get the Frog from the Three Musketeers, as I call you guys, our classroom would be meaningful and eventful.
Thanks for giving it a go.

Jaki64, Frog and I now have a secret too. I warned him that women cannot keep a secret, and who else but your name should come up.
Looks like we really do need another volunteer to step forward, if for no other reason than to be a fifth wheel and re-live that label.

Did I hear someone say something about butterflies??? (froggy???)(Lol!!!)
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!" (2 Corinthians 5:17).
Editor, I am very interested in learning more about what you have to say. Add me to the list!
Posted: Jan 1, 08 11:58am
Awesome, Mariposa! Anyone knowing how a caterpillar struggles to become a butterfly knows all about a new creation!
I did have someone PM me so I will also answer here.
For convenience I have I will put each day's post on a separate thread. That way, if anyone cares to print it out and work at a slower pace, or come in later in the study, they will not feel overwhelmed at the material or comments on a singular thread. There will be one thread per day for the next 49 days.
Each day the post numbered 1-49 with the topic heading can be found by clicking on Discussions on our Group (Mental Hygiene for Christians dotcomrades) and today's is posted already.
http://www.tbd.com/group/125/discussion/47452/view
There is an additional way to find the day's lesson and that is found on the front page under the section See All Discussions on TeeBeeDee new discussions.

A little boy wanted to meet God. He knew it was a long trip to where God lived, so he packed his suitcase with Twinkies and a six-pack of Root Beer and he started his journey.
When he had gone about three blocks, he met an elderly man. The man was sitting in the park just feeding some pigeons.
The boy sat down next to him and opened his suitcase. He was about to take a drink from his root beer when he noticed that the man looked hungry, so he offered him a Twinkie.
The man gratefully accepted it and smiled at boy. His smile was so pleasant that the boy wanted to see it again, so he offered him a root beer. Again, the man smiled at him. The boy was delighted! They sat there all afternoon eating and smiling, but they never said a word.
As it grew dark, the boy realized how tired he was and he got up to leave, but before he had gone more than a few steps, he turned around, ran back to the man, and gave him a hug. The man gave him his biggest smile ever.
When the boy opened the door to his own house a short time later, his mother was surprised by the look of joy on his face. She asked him, "What did you do today that made you so happy?
"He replied, "I had lunch with God." But before his mother could respond, he added, "You know what? God's got the most beautiful smile I've ever seen!"
Meanwhile, the elderly man, also radiant with joy, returned to his home. His son was stunned by the look of peace on his face and he asked," Dad, what did you do today that made you so happy?"
He replied, "I ate Twinkies in the park with God." However, before his son responded, he added," You know, he's much younger than I expected."
Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. People come into our lives for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. Embrace all equally!
~author unknown~
Send this to people who have touched your life in a special way. Let them know how important they are. Have lunch with God!
And .......Thanks for touching my life!
If not, share a smile. If not God, it may be your angel disguised...
