Hi Lisa: Only you can determine whether your emotion is a direct result of the Spirit moving you or if you are responding to other influences (the music, a sad or happy incident from your life) that elicit an emotional response. Pray for the discernment to be able to distinguish between being touched by the Word or responding to something other than that. There is some emotional component to the music whether it's Christian pop or traditional hymns--we just have be careful not to make whatever brings forth an emotional response (if it's not part of our worship) the new object of worship-which can happen often happen with the music.

I think it's fine to show emotion in church. You were moved for whatever reason. No need to be embarrassed.
I agree with mkmac4. The others in church should be listening to the sermon, not thinking about wether the guy next to them is crying. Just accept and enjoy the tears. Its ok :)
What are your thoughts/experiences about crying in church? I sometimes cry during a church service and feel embarrassed about it. I try to think of my emotion as being positive, but it is hard for me.
hehe...this is exactly why I like the fact that they keep the lights low in our church. I'm just kidding.
I don't have a problem showing my emotions. I think God gave me emotions and if I am moved by a song or something the pastor said, it's not a bad thing. Sure emotions can be a dangerous thing, if we act rashly because of emotion it can lead to some problems, but to be moved in church, that's normal and natural.
Praise God for the emotions, they come from Him.
If you are happy when you cry than that is all that matters,Jesus is joy and happiness,i really don't get people turning around a trying to see who is happy, what we have in store for us once we get to Heaven all should be jumping ,crying, shouting, praising the Lord and anything else you could think of knowing we will not have to put up with this sick world anymore.
I know a man who prayed the Lord would take the tears from his eyes in church, and He did for three years, the man was so miserable he couldn't enjoy any one elses blessings and couldn't get one of his own. He prayed for the return of the tears and he tells this testimony today. Tears are an outpouring of emotion, don't be embarassed the Holy Spirit may be using your tears to soften a sinners heart. Remember the woman who cried on Jesus feet and wiped them with her hair?
