The Best Horse in the Whole World...

Hi, I'm new to TBD and just noticed this group. It looks as though no one has posted here for almost a month, but everyone seems so nice, I'm going to write here anyway.

I just found out that my beloved 20 year-old Arabian mare has a possibly metastasized tumor. They've started chemo, and we're trying to help her put on weight, but after being in shock for 24 hours, I'm now losing it. She has been my very best friend and companion for 13 years. We studied classical riding together from the "ground up" as they say, and there could never be another horse like her in the world.

The stable owner is a darling woman who is allowing me to ride one of her horses while my baby is in treatment. The prognosis isn't known yet, and my beautiful gray mare is the one who is comforting *me*.

Anyway...just sharing... thanks for "listening"...

Thanks so much! I'm pulling myself together a little better today. Still very worried about her. Meanwhile, she has very good care, and maybe we can hope for improvement.

Hi CeeJ and welcome. I've been so busy that I don't have much time to be on here, but glad I took the time to look. My heart goes out to you...I lost my once in a lifetime horse last Christmas due to a massive heart attack. He was 33 years old and I was blessed to have owned him for almost 24 of those years, but it was still very hard. Good luck with your mare and please...keep us posted!

I'm going to agree with you, CeeJ, that there's hope for your beautiful gray girl. It may sound cliched, but love really is the best physician, and if anything can heal her, the love the two of you obviously have for each other will be a big part of it.

As a fellow dressage rider, I know how close that training brought you to your beloved mare. You two are inseparable, and nothing will change that.

CeeeJ I have only been around horses for a little over 2 years, and I understand how you feel. My wife owns a Belgian named Titan. He can be a handfull at time, but for the most part he is a great horse. We have trail rides at a place called A Cowboy Town on 116 acres. We also have Tennessee Walkers, Appaloosas, and Quarter horses.

They are al lof of fun.

CeeJ best to you and your girl, I have had a cancer scare here as well with my big foundation gray mare. I am sure with all the love you have and are showing her she will bounce back.

And yes from someone who firmly believes my first horse 6 yrs ago altered my health immensely, allowing me this time to help others as she helped me, you two will concore this.
