I am reflecting on my choice to sign up for this group. When I first joined Tee Bee Dee, I scanned the groups and selected three - writing (I am a writer), job change (I do a lot of career coaching stuff), and Go Veggie (I am an omnivore).
Hmmm...
I was a vegetarian for a few years while in my 20s but found it too hard to stick too - their were fewer choices then. I was strapped for cash and a #1 Super Value Meal (Big Mac) was cheap and tasty.
And now here I am. I think that somewhere deep in my mind, I would like to eat healthy vegetarian again. Why do I hesitate?
Perhaps that's why I am here, to explore and choose.
Tonight we watched the movie, "Fast Food Nation," inspired by the book of the same name. That movie is enough to put any fence sitting omnivore over into the cabbage patch.
It was very upsetting and some moments were hard to watch.
It is upsetting, too, because I eat tons of this crap. I don't cook - hate to cook - and end up in way too many drive throughs. If it weren't for my husband - who does cook and very well - my diet would be doubly bad.
I think I need to hold myself to a higher standard. Yes, this is why I am here. If you know of any great books or products to ease the fast food meat detox process and facilitate the transition from omnivore to herbivore let me know.
