You're lucky you can wear those deep jewel tones - especially pumpkin! I wish I could but my complexion isn't right for it.

I live in the PNW and it does get cold here (and wet) so I've purchased a couple of nice, light weight sweaters (for layering), a really cool hoodie that's got bamboo in it (how GREEN am I?..;-) and a long denim coat (sounds cheesy but it's cute). I'm looking for some low-heeled, tall black boots to go with a black sweater dress I bought. I highly recommend a sweater dress this winter - very classy, easy, and fashionable. I will wear it with black, textured tights and the boots or a pair of low-heeled, black mary jane-type shoes. Scarves are hot this season, too. I have one in salmon pink, lavendar, black, and grey with sliver thread.

Kat - I'd recommend a short sleeved sweater dress for you this winter since it doesn't get that hot. I've seen them at Marshalls and TJ Maxx...very cute!

I've looked at knit/sweater dresses, but the ones I've seen just look too young to me. Maybe it's because I see college students wearing them so often. We don't have Marshalls here, but I'll have to look for them the next time I go into TJ Maxx.

That denim coat sounds like a great find! Not cheesy at all. I love sweater dresses - I remember they were all the rage when i was in high school and still in the 80s so I'm glad they're making a comeback. Now, when you are 40 you are definitely not too old for them. 50s - well, still ok if you're lucky enough to be really fit, but it gets a little harder to stay that way. Wear them while you can!

I haven't been out shopping yet for fall fashions but I am seeing a lot of that plum color in the sale flyers...I love that deep purple color too. And scarves are definitely in...I love them too.

This is putting me in the mood to shop!

Got a gorgeous brown mohair short sleeved sweater at Ann Taylor today. Paired it with a 3/4 length matching brown tee underneath and it's so cute! Also got a pair of rich brown short boots from Macy's. All that and a hot pair of Lucky jeans and I'm stylin' for fall.

Also got a really cute tomato red based sweater (has multi colored threads as well - all fallish colors) in this retro style - big buttons, floppy collar...paid $14.00 at Ross and have gotten a ton of compliments.

Halloween is coming. Got a darling black, short sleeved tee with a big spider on the chest at Target...putting a long sleeved white tee underneath for warmth - really cute. That, my jeans, and a pair of black boots will be my 'costume' for work this year.

Doing good, ladies! I've recently won off ebay a great grey, pleated skirt, a nice basic navy v-neck sweater in a marino wool, and am waiting on receiving a brown tweed skirt. I had ordered an orange sustached-ribbon blazer (school colors) from Coldwater Creek, but upon washing for the first time before wearing, some of the ribbon had come off. That will have to be returned.

I'd love to get some new boots, but mine are in pretty good shape yet.
