From the time I was in my mid-30's I started hearing all the comments about how women should wear their hair shorter as they get older.. that long hair always looks BAD on anybody over 40, etc. I caved into that social pressure until last year, when I said to myself - I am turning 50. Nobody will ever mistake me for 40 - no matter how I wear my hair. My hair is curly and wavy when it is longer - it makes me feel sexy - and I wanted to have it back. So... I started growing it last year and I am SO glad I did!
I did have one odd thing happen with regards to this - I saw an old friend (female) who I had not seen in a year. First thing she said when she saw me was "So - that is your goal with that HAIR??" I was floored! I have to assume she did not like it very well LOL.
So.. any other "long haired" over 40's out there? Why did you fly in the face of social convention? What reactions do you receive from others?
