It's funny - as much of a bargain shopper as I consider myself to be, I rarely step foot into a consignment store. I don't know why, really. I guess I was so overweight for so long that I assumed they were filled with skinny girl clothes. Not sure. I do shop Value Village which is like a Goodwill or St. Vincent DePaul if you have those in your area. We have Plato's closet but like Kat said, they cater more to teens/young adults.

Yes, there is a wonderful one in my town, I shop there often, called Touch of Class in Simsbury, CT

I don't either. I'm just paranoid that if I purchase something the previous owner will see me and say "Hey that's my OLD outfit"! Oh gosh that would embarrass me *L*

I used to shop at every expensive store I could find and darn if I didn't run into people wearing the same thing I had on. I started shopping at consignment stores when I met someone who owned one. You choose the nice ones and yes, I have gotten huge amounts of things that still have tags on them. In fact, I take my clothes I can no longer wear or can't take back since I lost receipt. It is amazing the amount of things I buy and get them home and when I get ready to wear them they look terrible on me. I love consignment shops.They are like going to any other store but cheaper.

It is no different than getting your friends together and having a huge clothes swap.

Sister, you should try it! Even if you don't find clothing that you like or that fits, most have accessories - you might find a great deal on an awesome bag! :-)

GreatLady, don't worry about that! Unless you find a piece that's incredibly unique, how you wear something and pair it with what you already own will make it completely yours.

Now that would be fun! I had a friend back in Iowa that was my size and our styles were similar and we swapped clothes on occasion. Down here none of my friends are the same size and we all have different styles.
