I don't care how small your ass is, jeans without back pockets are so OUT. Besides, jeans WITH pockets actually make your ass look smaller - bonus!

LOL< - good question. I saw a woman the other day wearing them...I suppose she could have had them since the 80's. Another item to add to the 'bad 80's fashion' list. ;-)
