Do the job and see where it may take you. Don't hesitate to continue to pursue your advanced degree, but maybe you have already learned what I think is the most important lesson of your life:

Book learning is great, for the learning, but it is no substitute for the other experiences that life can offer.

Don't expect your education to ever be as valuable to others as it is to you. You are the one who has benefitted and you need to be the one to appreciate the time you've spent getting that degree.

Life has many lessons and at 22 most of yours have probably been learned in an academic setting. Move out into the world and teach yourself before you attempt to teach others.

I agree with CDF. "Life experience" is so very important. It helps you know what it is that you like, who you are in relation to others, and helps to build your personality. Maybe you could take some of your courses in another country? And part of our purpose in Life is to learn how to navigate.

You've got a million other guys beat to the punch. No matter what job you're in: keep your head up and your eyes and ears open. The days of holding one job and retiring from it are over (of Course)...While you are doing your best work at your present position...you are in a line of work that may put you in touch with salespeople and suppliers and there may be employment opportunities, leads and rumors of leads with them. Dont miss trade shows, conferences and meetings with outside vendors. Stick to business: but ask questions. Move to what interests you. People love to talk about their work (good OR bad). Listen for leads

Parlay what you have and what you've done into something more. Jobs are like a Birch Trees...they move through a forest sprouting in front and dying behind. Keep an eye ahead....Dont waste too much time over analyzing your purpose in life (like the movies)

what....you're going back to school????

Maybe the most important lesson you can learn is that your career is only a corner of your life. There are so many other important aspect to life that how you earn your living will eventually be contested by: Who will be your life partner? Where will you live? What role does parenting play in my life? And most important of all: Boxers or briefs?

Career is an extension of self. Do you need to teach? if not, stay away from education. A teacher for whom it is not a calling is better off doing something else. Frankly, I wouldn't want someone not on fire to teach in a room with my granddaughter! Same with law, medicine, engineering, and administrative assisting!

Discover while you are young what your calling is. I discovered i want to work with people in relationships that would benefit them without me having to control their decisions. Yeah, I went back for advanced degrees and became a psychotherapist. I also enjoyed building things. So, I developed businesses around my skill nad in other venues.

My work was an outgrowth of me.

I also enjoy eating so when times were bad, i took any job that would put food on the table. I've driven a cab, flipped burgers, sewn pants for a tailor, ran a store, did gang work in the inner city and taught graduate school as well as conducting my primary career which game me inner nurturance.

Take your time. Look inward before you look for a "job" or a "career." What is your burning issue and how can you also earn a living exploring it? would be the question my seeker of wisdom and truth would go after.

Good luck and in the meantime, you have food on the table and a computer to use to connect with others while you seek. Not bad for a few months out of college!
