I am involved with the Amazon Vine program, and have been opting for primarily young adult novels, ages 9 and up. So far, out of three reads, none of the books has really stood out as anything exciting or noteworthy. My last read was Theodosia, Staff of Osiris.
While I won't recant my entire review, it just didn't have a spark. The book introduced about ten adults in the first chapter, and gave no distinguishing characteristics to any of them. I felt like I was watching a play where cardboard props moved about the page instead of actors.
The book was also "muddy" to read. It just didn't flow well for me. It's hard to quantify this aspect of a book, but I know it when I see it.
Anywho, unlike the blurb on the book, it was not "great for fans of Harry Potter."
