The Five Buddha Families or Great Buddhas of Wisdom, are a central feature of Tibetan Buddhist belief and art. They are often found in Tibetan mandalas and thangkas. Each Buddha is believed to be capable of overcoming a particular evil with a particular good, and each has a complete system of iconographic symbolism.
1.- Vairocana or Buddha Family. This family corresponds with The Animal Realm. Its energy is neutral. Its wisdom is just to be, it integrates the wisdom of all the Buddhas. Its energy is motionless, loves silence and enjoys itself, does not need to achieve, do, give or receive. This is the family of the spaceness, where everything is perfect, where there is an appreciation for things as they are, there is nothing to change, and you can get a good listener. It is the God Realm, the wisdom of silence, the wisdom that comes from the unknown.
Shadow: Hugh preference for loneliness, it ignores others, it is apathetic and irresponsible, basically it doesn’t give a shit, and things don’t get done, procrastination.
2.- Akshobhya or Vajra Family. This family corresponds with The Hell Realm. Its energy is masculine. Its wisdom is clarity, its mirror like. Its energy is sharp, cutting, clear, cold. This is the family that analyzes, is precise, cutting, conceptual, sees through people, it has passion to know, perception, it is wise and it has integrity, insights and it is energized. It presents clear boundaries and it is target oriented.
Shadow: It has clear what is right or wrong and that is the only truth. It presents intellectual arrogance, it is rigid and critical, it feels attached by the reality, the world is claustrophobic, it is sarcastic.
3.- Ratnasambhava or Ratna Family. This family corresponds with The Realm of the Hungry Ghosts. Its energy is feminine. Its wisdom is gratitude, equality. Its energy is giving. It is the family of the mother earth, nourishes, fulfils, provides comfort, abundance, it makes sure that everybody has everything. Loves equanimity, gratitude, generosity, it is like a nurturing massage, it is expansive, resourceful, and it happily provides hospitality.
Shadow: Addictions, overindulgence, greed, heaviness, saturation, unable to move, bad receiver, prepares big and overwhelms.
4.- Amitabha or Padma Family. This family corresponds with The Human Realm. Its energy is feminine. Its wisdom is discriminating appreciation. Its energy is very worm and sensual. It has a deep passion to connect, it likes to see and be seen, it is seducing, intimate, it has a lot of charisma, and appreciation, it appears in artists, politics and any body with facility to connect with people.
Shadow: It is clingy, possessive, manipulating, loneliness, needy, breakhearted, betrayal, everything is about me.
5.- Amogasiddha or Karma Family. This family corresponds with The Realm of the Jealous Gods. Its energy is masculine. Its wisdom is all accomplishing. Its energy is movement, it never stops. It is the one on the market place. It is the place of the doer, flowing with an easy going and energy, it is grounded, smooth, flowly. It has strategy, efficiency, compassion in action, it is a leader, discipline, loves lists and order, is appreciated and appreciates accomplishments.
Shadow: Ambition to the extreme, manipulation, domineer, paranoia, jittery and anxious.
I identify the most with the Ratna and the Vajra family, and I can see how the shadow works when I am inmature or I am not really fluid with this energies.
Who are you and why? How do you manifest and can you also see your shadows?
Gracias amigos,
Debora.
