I'm infatuated with the Beatles. Have been since Feb 9, 1963 and their first appearance on Ed Sullivan. In my opinion, no other group is even in the same universe talent wise (singing, songwriting), especially when you realize that the Beatles incredible catalog of work was accomplished in less than 10 years.

As one rock historian said...most groups have to work hard to get enough material to fill a CD. The Beatles had to decide which songs wouldnt make the cut for the next CD.

I am also a lifelong British rock fan. I started w the Beatles, then the Stones, Kinks, the Yardbirds, the Animals, Gerry & the Pacemakers, Jimi Hendrix--saw him in'68, Eric Clapton, his old Cream & Traffic albums; really enjoy Led Zeppelin; & still have most of their albums & CDs; & also still listen to Pink Floyd and the Moody Blues. A thrill of a lifetime was seeing Robert Plant & Zeppelin. Also, treasured seeing the Stones in '73, and again in'05.

The Kinks -- You Really Got Me gets me going, every time.

Dave Clark 5 -- Glad All Over -- I requested it when one of my kids was making this old coot a CD for my birthday. They liked the pounding drums, to this day. Came out when I was 12 and I used to pretend I was a cheerleader to its beat. (I was far, far away from that lofty status, but our family-room record player was a safe haven until my dad got home.)

Herman's Hermits -- gad, change my channel, quick! No 'enary-the-eighth or I shall go off the deep end. Dream it in my sleep.

My heroes? Beatles!!! Beatles!!! I wish I still had my 5-inch "I love John" pin that I wore proudly in the 8th grade. Damn David Hinckley.

You saw Hendrix live!! Far out, man. I'm so jealous.

The Who, the bleedin' double "O" , the first band to vomit in the bar , the loudest band ever , that's right I mean the freakin' Who !

Honestly my favorite bands would be the Beatles, LedZep and then the Who if I had to rank them but I thought the Who needed some respect here. Kieth Moon has long been a hero of mine, Pete Townsend's one of the finer composers of rock, John Entwistle brought musicianship rarely seen in pop/rock bassists and Daltry ,uh, wasn't bad. This band rocked in it's time, the bands tours left a wake of legend and vandalism. They held three Guinness world records including loudest concert and longest wait for an encore .

Sigh. There anyone care to speak up for the 'Stones?

How true, the Who are indeed, British rock legends, w Townsend & Daltry's vocals & guitar work, & I also love their music! Even CSI uses their classic tune,"Who Are You?". I've been privileged to see the Stones twice! Once, in '73, when Stevie Wonder opened, & Mick was in his glitter-rock purple-scarf-skintight-jumpsuit, Jumpin' Jack Flash days. Next, I saw them in Oct. '05; & they've still got it- Jagger's running across the stage like he's still 2O! Closing out for now, we must give props to Eric Clapton & his amazing guitar work; & did you get into Pink Floyd? They were/are also awesome rock legends!
