...and the stupidity of voters.
Hillary Rodham Clinton - Besides never being under sniper fire or Chelsea being around 9-11 except in bed in front of the TV, HillaryCare, circa 2008, is just another lie. It's a lie she had to tell because Democrats are sure to vote for someone who wants to do something about health care. Barack Obama lied too. Insurance and medical lobbyists will never let it happen since Congress is owned by them much the way the President is owned by the Oil & Gas Lobby. Promising a new big budget entitlement for $85 billion (Obama) and $110 billion (Clinton). Like the Senior prescription drug program that is so complicated, Bush's book on tape runs for 4,678 hours. It also costs double or more than promised. So, that means Obama's will cost at least $170 billion and Hillary's $220 billion.
Neither plan will happen. Canadians wait up to 3 months to see a specialist and another 2-3 months for a surgery. Britains pull their own teeth because they can't see a dentist. People in America die waiting on Social Security and people in Canada and Britain die waiting on a specialist.
So, that's the first big lie.
The next big lie is taxing the rich to death. When you tax the rich to death, they don't invest. The Carter years proved that and it took nearly 3 years for Reagan to turn it around. Economic boom happened since 1984-85 till now with 2 hiccups. Tax cuts work, tax hikes don't. NYers figure out creative ways to avoid them and California companies just move out of state.
But, voters buy the lies. Politicians promise everything and usually deliver nothing but other things corporate America wants like 30% interest rates on credit cards (Hillary voted yea and so did Obama).
Another lie is soaking the Oil Companies. Oil companies make a profit of about 12.5%, which is the total industry average. Microsoft makes about 25-30%. If anyone is price-gouging, it is Microsoft not Exxon. Unless you buy a MAC, you pay the "Microsoft Tax" when you buy a computer. Oil companies actually made a profit of around 8% till 2001-2002, which is 4.5% below the industry average. Oil producing countries are screwing you not Exxon. Saudi Arabia subsidizes gas in their country. Customers there pay about 10-15 cents a gallon.
The bitter truth is Congress does little for the average American but loves to stick the American Citizen. Senators and Congressman/women are nothing but liars promising pretty things they never will deliver. 30% have written a bad check by the way.
McCain straight talk is nice but just a nice way of saying, Taxes lower but the "little people" (you!) will have to fend for yourself. I'm old enough to know you can't tame the beast called government just try to control it a little. Either way you vote this year, you're buying one lie or another. The only thing that has CHANGED is how big the lies are getting. I say time for another revolution. Even our hippies that wrote the Constitution said write a new one every 20 years.
