I'm in the middle of reading The Librarian by Larry Beinhart about a plot to throw a presidential election. I'm loving it -- there are recognizable portraits of some of the miscreants still in office today. Beinhart also wrote the book that became Wag the Dog, a movie that was way ahead of its time in anticipating extreme dirty tricks. It's also hilarious, so rent it if you can.

The Librarian was published in 2004 so probably the easiest place to find it is at an online bookseller
