I have such great memories of that summer. I was living in a small town of 8000 people in Iowa, headed to the Univ. of Iowa and 25,000 students. So in some ways I knew I was about to embark on a whole new phase of my life. What I couldnt have predicted was the magical, mystery tour it ended up becoming.
Music was a huge part of the summer of love for me, as it was for so many of us.The Beatles really started that revolution with Sgt Peppers, the album we played on our car stereos (8-track) all summer long.
In some small way, I miss those times.

during the summer of love i was 15 years old and discovered i could hitch a ride to the town of woodstock, new york (i lived in kingston new york, very close. i spent the afternoons hanging out on the green in the center of town and nights at concerts in a meadow outside of town where the music was wonderful and the stars were bright and i would wander into the 'cafe expresso' to eat something and listen to music, and my life seemed to be opening up and the future was oh so huge.

In the, "Summer of Love", back in'67, I was, "Just 17, you know what I mean",(Beatles lyric from," I Saw Her Standing There), and I missed going to Woodstock, Susan, but loved your recollections! My hip,older bro, took our dad's woodie station wagon & went with friends, & to this day, remembers sliding around in the mud, & Hendrix's amazing rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner! I LOVED the British & other music, feeling free, esp. CSN and Y, & believing that we could give peace a chance, & most parts of the 60's! Thanks!

I was many places. I attended "Monterey Pop". I partied with a few "Hell's Angels", I "tripped" in the Haight. I attended college.I worked full time to support myself. Some of it is kind of a blur. Was that the year "People's Park" in Berkeley was taken? I was there whenever that was. I drove a Blue 60 VW and rode a 650 Triumph. It was a GREAT YEAR!!!!
