As it turns out, I didn't get the job. I also didn't get the other job that I interviewed for a couple of days ago. I am feeling like a bit of a reject. You are all invited to my pity party commencing today (actually last night). I have applied for no less than 30 jobs recently. Perhaps my resume is a bit too honest. Like I said, Las freaking Vegas is rough for women in their forties. I guess I'll have to rethink the whole deal.

I'm so sorry you didn't get the job. It's very tough out there right now. The company I work for just announced that we are having 60 lay offs this quarter. I had been sending some resumes out to just get a feel of whats out there. Not one reply. Boy I know I felt like yesterdays news. Lets pity party together. Hang in !!!! What's meant to be will happen. :)

Play to your advantages - you know what work means, you went to school when they taught kids how to speak and do math calculations, that you know how important it is to the success of the restaurant that people show up on time, all the time.

I see that you didn't get this particular job. See if you can find restaurants that are not so youth-oriented. Consider other types of service work. (Card dealers make good money but it's boring.) It is hard to find good, dependable employees. H/R managers know this, so keep on going.

This might be very late in the day, and you might have finally found a job after being so determined and taking all the action you can. I suppose you realize that you are not alone in contending with the other age groups in this clash of age-cultures at the workplace.
