I need help with finding work. However I am faced with a few obstacles. I have a spinal condition which precludes me from doing jobs that require a lot of heavy lifting. After my initial diagnosis from my doctor and the lifting restrictions he imposed I have been out of work. I can't get on disability because they don't feel I am disabled enough for that. I have been out of work since 2004. I am faced with having to go back to work now and my problem is I have not got any recent work history to wrote into a job application. I had a friend of mine who is in the social service field tell me that my girl friend with whom I live with would have to act as an employer and help me with job references. Is this person correct? How do I get around this problem and yet still become gainfully employed again? Most employers are doing background checks now as well and if you have something unfavorable on your background check you are just out of luck and still out of work.
