over 50 with unaccredited school degree , what do you do to get the job

I am 52 years old , with a business degree a bachelor's , however it is from years ago and the college at the time was not accredited what do I do . I have the experience, the ethics , the knowledge and a great track record . I can not find a job in my field , because the degree it lots of companies does not count. How do I deal with this , I am enrolling in a college , but this is starting from scratch , and why would I want to take all the same classes all over again , other then ones who have changed with time. English , math and a few others have not really changed.

If you want the benefits of a business degree (and it seems as though there are many), then you have to play by all the rules. It does not matter that many required subjects have not changed over time.

The fact is that your original degree is fatally flawed by being from an unaccredited institution. You have to go all the way back to scratch. It is definitely worth it in the long run.

I have many degrees from numerous universities. I can't begin to tell you how many subjects I've had to take over and over again. Them's the rules! If you want that legitimate degree you have to follow them, exactly.

There are accredited colleges that offer credit for life experience. Look into all sorts of alternative universities and see what's available to you, perhaps even online.

If you're not willing to go back to school, then buy the book, Get Hired Now (Traditi). It's a comprehensive, 28-day plan to get you hired (even without a degree)

Maybe it's time for a change.....after being bugged by my supervisor to take more accounting courses, I realized I wasn't interested because I just don't want to do it anymore. So I thought about what I REALLY wanted to do and it was teaching. Can't wait for the next class and everyone is so supportive. I'm learning I have inner resources never imagined and having a great time.

Just a thought....

Depending on where you live and their laws and rules, you can get accredited to substitute teach up to high school with only a high school transcript.

In California [where I live], you apply, have your background investigated, a set of fingerprints submitted, a few interviews and then you become a substitute teacher.

I've done it a few times to fill in between jobs and it fills your resume space nicely.
