I would not get discouraged. The internet is strange sometimes on dating and finding the right one. I would meanwhile find things you can do to socialize and get to know more people.

It is always when you least expect it that someone seems to come out of nowhere to find you.

I agree with the other posts. It's not easy to meet people--at work, through friends, blind dates, speed dating, Internet dating, whatever. Internet dating sites don't promise miracles. They're just one more kinda difficult way to meet people. So please don't feel discouraged. Just keep on keeping on.

Here is another question: has anyone had success meeting someone who posts at a Craig's List? Not the "casual encounters" section, but the women seeking men or men seeking women?

I've found internet dating to be a challenge too, but I think mostly because I'm still a little nervous about getting involved at all.

I tried Match at the recommendation of a couple of the guys I work with. To be honest I had lots of emails and winks and stuff - I don't mean that in a braggy way, I got the impression that these were people that troll new members. (I never did a search for a guy, I probably should do that just to see.) I found the whole thing overwhelming and uncomfortable - I'm now just letting my subscription run out. I think if I meet anyone it's going to be by chance.

I haven't tried Craigs List, the idea of it makes me nervous (but then, maybe it all does). I know a couple of people that have had limited success with Yahoo Personals too.

Good luck out there. It's tricky stuff, if you ask me.

You said "I'm now just letting my subscription run out." Be carefull. Some of those sites don't let things run out. They automatically charge you for a renewed subscription. I don't know about Match but please check it out if you haven't already........

I haven't had any luck with internet dating yet. It's easy to get discouraged but like many of the others put it, don't let it keep you from trying.....
