If someone tells you they love you within one day or two, it is probably too good to be true. You don't even know the person yet. They are probably scam artist to try to lure you into giving them money. Online dating works for me but I still have to be very careful and be very picky.

I agree with both the ladies here. You absolutely cannot be gullible nor vulnerable. Even if you are you never never never show it over the net. You act like you don't care and that will weed out alot of the losers. If they only give you a cell number and you can't call at certain times there is one red flag. If they make excuses to not come to see you then that is another. Never trust just one picture. Ask for at least 5-6 in different locations so you know that MAYBE they didn't steal them off of someone's website. Be cautious. There are too many crazies out there. I could tell you stories from my many years in chat and the stupid things people believed. Just remind yourself.......don't believe til they can prove it....
One rule of thumb that I go by is, If it seems to good to be true, it probably is...meaning If a gorgeous hottie starts a conversation with me....give me a freakin break....No gorgeous woman has ever started up a conversation with me. How freakin stupid do you think I am? If they are from Ghana....Its a scam. As stated above, If they are talking love/marriage right away...Its a scam. Craigslist is full of these scams in the casual encounters section.
And in most cases, Nigeria. These scam artists also attack the people looking for new friends websites. BE CAREFUL!
I think it is wrong to make a general statement and call everyone from Ghana and Nigeria a scam artist. I am a Nigerian and very proud of it. I am no con artist and there are millions of Nigerians like me who want genuine friendships. Scam artists cut across race, gender and geographic location. You just have to know the danger signs.

Seriously though, I had this conversation with a cyber friend last night telling him I had an issue with a harasser. He said he gets emails all the time from gals in other countries who are scamming for money. He gave me a website link that's some sort of worldwide search engine for proven scammers.
Unfortunately, Nigerian scam artists are well known. I agree that not all Nigerians are scamming. But some folks in that country have you all a bad name. I am sorry.
