Find an unmarried friend for your experiment if you dont want to end a marriage. I think the final long term outcome will be a lot of heartache for everyone.

Many people are capable of recreational sex with no deep emotional attachment so I suppose recreational kissing could be possible. Were I his wife I might not be happy about it. Is she your friend as well?

Well, that's where I'm checking myself. Yes, she is a friend of mine. No, she probably would not be happy with the situation.

There's been a sort of unrequited sexual tension between me and my male friend since high school. So we were joking the other day about just "getting past that tension" and getting it over with. Kiss. Then we know what the other kisses like and the tension is gone.

Crazy? I know. Delusional? Most likely.

Thing is, I really have no sexual attraction to him at all. I think I would be able to go into it as fun and nothing else. And then it's over with and all out in the air, so to speak.

But I get caught in the "what would his wife think of this" - knowing she wouldn't like it.

If his wife is okay with your idea of recreational kissing, then why not? But from your second post, it sounds like your mutual attraction goes beyond just kissing. If his wife is fine with him having a fling with you, or with an open relationship, then fine. But I'd check with her first.

Please don't take this as my being judgmental, only you can decide what you can 'live with'.

That said, I live by the golden rule of 'do unto others as they would do unto you'.

If the roles were reversed and you were his wife, how would you feel? Exactly.

There are plenty of unmarried men that you can 'kiss'. Think of what you will lose, think of the pain you will cause, think of the betrayal of trust and friendship.

Only you can decide.

You're vulnerable right now after your break up. I think your male friend is trying to take advantage of your vulnerability. A real friend wouldn't put you in this position. It comes across like he's trying to be manipulative. Tell him to go kiss someone else.

Okay yeah, I'm judgemental, I can't help it. I'm sorry. He is taking advantage of the situation and is about to throw away his marriage to get what he wants. Someone needs to grow up and back away from it. You are vulnerable right now and are willing to accept his suggestion as "reasonable." If he isn't happy in his marriage he needs to be a man about it and end it himself instead of using you to accomplish it. The delusional part comes in where you think it will end at the just kissing stage. Get real!!
