Escaping the mundane

SO, I'm new here. In a nutshell, I have realized that my mundane life of work and home is my own doing, and the only way it will change is if I change it. I just need some help in the ideas department. I am in a small town, not much to offer in the way of activities. I seem to have a hard time initiating friendships, or talking to new people, I am too self conscious. Anyone have ideas on how to meet people? Or, just make life more exciting?

Hi Mountainlady..

When I saw that you live in CA...I thought "wow" how can you not have something to do. When I visited CA there seemed to be so much to do or see in close proximity and often at little or no cost (except the gas). I say take a camera and go be like a tourist...see stuff...take pictures for fun and don't worry about talking to people. When you are relaxed and enjoying yourself, conversation will be easy.

You are right Linda, I actually live about 45 minutes outside of Yosemite, but haven't gone there in about 3 years! I do love to go places when I can. Maybe I will try the camera, usually I just take snapshots of the kids and such. I guess by "mundane" I meant more my day to day life. You know, after work, the kids are doing their thing, and I am bored for a few hours before bed. (I don't really watch TV)

I know that kind of mundane, oh yeah, but I am a bit of an evening TV person. I escape the day to day mundane by working out, taking bellydance classes and watching my favorite TV shows.......Dr. McDreamy..(sigh).

I have met a lot of people by going back to church, was away for about 20 years and have been back for three. I have met a variety of people of all ages.
