Favorite three books of all time?

I realize to list three may be near-impossible plus the list would change with time. Still, if you had to choose today, what books (fiction or nonfiction) would be among your favorites?

I'm interested in your responses; I just might hear of a book I would have otherwise overlooked.

Three that come to the top of my head:

"The Handmaid's Tale" by Margaret Atwood

"Watchers" by Dean Koontz

"Pillars of the Earth" by Ken Follett

Ooo, but then there was "The Book Thief" and....

I read a few by Tan; I especially liked "The Bonesetter's Daughter," so I'll look for "One Hundred Secret Senses."

Scooter your not the only romantic out there.

My all time fav...The Thornbirds I took it on my honeymoon. The marriage didn't last but still have the book.

I just loved The Mermaid Chair.

And a 3rd. maybe Angela's Ashes or The Sacred Romance.

Azure The Handmaid's tale really good huh?

Huumm...my list sounds really shallow and doing just 3 is too hard

1)The Women's Room--Marylin French

2)Jitterbug Perfume--Tom Robbins

3)any Terry Pratchett novel

then add Amy Tan's novels, the rest of Robbins, all of Jane Austin, Heinlein, Asmov, Anthony, Asprin, Jill Conner Browne, Alexander McCall Smith, ect., ect. (those were all on the book shelf closest to the computer;-)
