I don't do bodice rippers - no where to put the energy they inspire if they are any good and most of them are just too trite. Needed a quickie for a trip and picked up J.D. Robb (Nora Roberts) book and wound up buying all twenty six of them. Mind, I would probably omnibus the lot and make just a few books out of them (anyone else notice the tendency in popular publishing today to take what should be one book and make a series of it? Koontz's "Frankenstein" and Tom Odd books, Nora Roberts' "7" came to mind immediately. Most of King could be one book (he beats an idea to death book after book! I've given up.) )
So, what book have you grabbed out of desperation or against your better judgement only to be happily surprised - perhaps enough that you just kept tracking new titles until you exhausted the available?
