Scottish mystery writers

I love to read mysteries but especially enjoy Scottish mystery writers. I read Ian Rankin, Val McDermid, Christopher Brookmyre, Quintin Jardine and MC Beaton. Sadly none of them can write them as fast as I read them. I need to find another series to read - does anyone know another Scottish mystery writer?

I used to read spy novels but then the Berlin wall came down and the bottom seemed to fall out of the spy novel world.

Christopher Brookmyre is a particular favourite at present with his 'Tartan Noir' style.

Not exaclty a "mystery" writer, but have you read Lewis Grassic Gibbons?

As my parents were from the North-East of Scotland his dialect in his novels is like music to my ears.

Yes, Brit,

I remember reading "A Scots Quair" which I withdrew from the library.

I remember feeling shocked and filthy from reading the sexual abuse of the daughter by her father. I really had trouble believing that Scottish people did such things. Of course, a 15 year old like myself had never heard of such a thing, so would naturally feel shocked.
