I have read "Run" and I loved it!! I would also recommend "Bel Canto" by this author. Her writing is very evocative - you will find yourself rereading certain passages.

I saw Ann Patchett a couple months ago in St. Paul. I was in the front row - so fun to see her. My favorite of her books is Truth and Beauty - love that book! I haven't read Run yet but really am looking forward to it. I only got halfway through Bel Canto - Truth and Beauty is non-fiction about her friendship with writer Lucy Grealy. It's a beautiful book.

Wow!! I had never read Ann before, but did read the reviews of her latest "Run" and put my name on the list at the library. I'm almost done with it. She has such a command of language and the ability to twist one's heart or mind with it. Can't recommend it enough!!
Krista, you may like this one better. It has a faster pace and is filled with "what is going to happen next" moments.
Then again, our tastes in books is the same as in any art: our souls and minds are touched differently and no judgement should ever be made of it.

Kennette, I really love your last paragraph about tastes in art - what a nice thought, and so true.

Krista et al,
If you read Truth and Beauty, you will also want to read Autobiography of a Face by Lucy Grealy. She is the subject of T&B. This is one of the most beautifully written 3/4's of a book. The last part is definitely not written to the same standard; the story of "why" that is true is explained in Truth and Beauty. You get to see the friendship from both sides and it creates some interesting dilemmas. I didn't think Patchett showed herself to be the best friend re Lucy but it's worth exploring.
