This is the feeling I get after reading a really involving, beautifully written book... I love it, and then I finish it, and then there's the "I'll never ever read another book as fabulous as that one" feeling.
Of course I will eventually find another great book to read, and overall my track record has been pretty good on finding some incredibly great books.
My latest example - and I'm still in recovery from this one - is Steinbeck's "East of Eden". I should probably have chosen a better palate-cleanser than the book on genocide in Rwanda that I'm reading now.
Anybody else experience this? What was the last book that left you with that feeling? What did you read afterwards?
