It was the summer of 1967 and I was 13 years old... I had a huge crush on this neighborhood boy. As was the norm, a bunch of kids from the neighborhood were hanging out on the back porch of my best friend's house. A song came on the radio, and my "crush" began to sing "Can't Take My Eyes Off of You" directly to me. It was like a scene from West Side Story. I was flattered AND embarrassed! I mean, he was singing in front of everybody!
Now, when I think back to that time... how endearing that memory is to me. What "hutzpah" that kid had! I wonder what that "crush" is doing today?
