Hi all,
On You Tube last night I watched old black-and-white performance footage of :
Mel Harris singing "Hold me, hold me, thrill me". I couldn't find the year it came out. This performance seemed like mid-late 60's.
Gerry and the Pacemakers " Ferry Cross the Mersey"
Lesley Gore "It's my Party and I'll cry if I want to" and "You don't own me." Gosh she was a militant "feminist!"
Tonight, I am going to look for "To Sir With Love" by Lulu and
David Soul's "Don't give up on us Baby"
Glen Campbell's " Wichita Lineman (I am a lineman for the county)."
Bread " I found her diary underneath a tree"
I am also a huge Johnny Cash fan.
These types of songs resonate for me as if I was around experiencing my formative years when they came out. Unfortunately, NONE of my friends feel the same way. They like much more modern songs.
I hope to hear back from people who are "transported" when they hear Marivn Gaye and Tammi Terrel singing "You're all I need to get by" or the Stylistics doing masterful harmonies in "Have you seen her?" ; "You are everything" or the pathos of the Spinners lamenting on "How could I let you get away?"
