SOMEWHERE IN MY LIFETIME

I'm here at my computer with the radio on and they are playing the song: "SOMEWHERE IN MY LIFETIME" by Phylis Hyman. I love this song no matter how old it gets it will always be a wonderful song. I just seem to feel her pain in all her music as she left us way too soon. She was a beautiful woman as well as wonderful R & B/ Jazz singer but her life was so lonely. All she wanted was to be loved by someone who would truly understand her, but she was mistaken for a lonely drug using nothing. Most of the men in her life abused her mentally as well as physically who in turned got her hooked on drugs and this helped her in making the decision to end her own life through suicide. She is greatly missed. I will always love her for the great songstress she was as well as a beautiful spirited woman.

Hey Honeybee - I am not familiar with Phylis, but my guess is Billie Holliday was in the same bag. Janis Joplin and many others too. And, on the male side, Jimi Hendrix, Charlie Parker and a host of others as well. Lonely souls, living the blues, taken advantage of in a ruthless business full of sharks.

If you haven't checked out Mavis Staples latest record...well, I think you'll dig it. She is a soul survivor.

Hey Tweedledum,

Yes it is a sad and unfortunate thing for all those wonderful artist to die such tragic deaths. Loneliness is something. Yes I've always liked Marvis Staples her voice is awesome thanks for the heads up I'll check it out!
