Good-bye to the ominous "Black Hole" forever.
Astronomy and Space Science teachers should be on alert.
The widespread lack of effective science education has now expanded its effect into the realm of "Political Correctness" run amuck.
A recent Texas controversy has garnered national attention today as two members of a county commission are demanding apologies from the commission chairman and a promise to never again use the commonly accepted euphemism "into a 'Black Hole'" when referring to an unacceptable amount of taxpayer's dollars disappearing as if "into a black hole" with no visible return or results.
Apparently these two commissioners who are "offended" and "insulted" are insisting that the use of the term "black hole" must be forbidden in the future because it is a totally unacceptable "racist" term that "in this day and age" is disparaging and demeaning toward their minority ethnic group.
Will the liberal education establishment be far behind in their support of this position ?
But I really should commiserate, having for decades suffered due to the use of the deeply offensive term, "White Dwarf" !
So let's begin the renaming of all possibly offensive scientific terms immediately.
Please search your science vocabularies, and share with us any terms that could possibly be considered "offensive" by anyone or any group.
Also include a suggested replacement if you have devised a "non-offensive" one.
(N.B. "Devil's Food Cake" is not a scientific term.)
