That is very interesting, Fromz. However, I don't think we have a mono-causal process here ... perhaps you didn't imply we do. There is also the process where by ocean currents cycle from the cold regions to the warm due to the presence of the polar ice caps and the difference in "weight" of saline saturated water and non-saline (more or less melted ice) water. Likely, coupled with the winds your referenced article discusses, the cycle of both water and wind have influence on the alterations of climatic conditions. These respective cycles are critical to plankton growth and movement of thermal masses that both influence air and water chemistry and bio-mass. I am curious as to the causes of the superficial sea winds ... as you said, the "origin is not yet fully understood" ... various causes have been hypothesized, as you know. Some meet the tenants of good science, others don't. Time will tell.
