Sounds intriguing. I think the only thing that worries me about using fresh water for fuel is that I'd hate to see fresh water start costing 4 bucks a gallon. You don't really think it'll stay free if that's what we use for fuel do you?

Oh wait, I guess if you consider bottled water it's already more than that.

Oh and then there's the competition between fresh water for fuel vs fresh water for drinking. Kind of like what we're seeing with corn now that we've dedicated such a large percentage of our corn crops to producing ethanol. Why grow food when you're subsidized to grow fuel after all.

GG, I was thinking about water the other day in relation to shale oil.

Strikes me a water pipeline from the Pacific carrying desalinated water could carry some extra water and help alleviate the water western shortage.

In the same vein, we might build "hydrogen refineries" on the coasts using desalinated water.

How's that sound to you?
