When it comes to the surface of the planet, nothing is virgin. Everything was once something else. The problem we have as humans is that we can't, don't or won't see things on geological time scales.

Maybe it is the way we are biologically wired. Just as animals who live in packs 'kick-out’ members to maintain healthy diversity we push out from wherever we 'were'

Sooner or latter we will come back to our starting point, we may find our lost selves or find that they have lost the battle of survival.

It is a hard wired imperative to seek the undiscovered beyond the horizon.

I think that is why there is such a prevalent need to discover aliens. But we are the aliens. When we leave the boundaries of this blue green planet and go into space we become that which we seek.

It is only in not believing that someone else could possible be able to do what we are doing, that we trip on our egos.
