My Dad died with Alzheimer and my MIL is now in a nursing home with it. My stepdaughter's MIL is currently being cared for in-home with ALZ.
Of course, my Dad sparked an interest by me in this disease, and now I find many that share their experiences with their parent's disease and experience
I was asked what I thought were the reasons this disease appears rampant. 1) People are living longer and it is a latter age disease. 2) More media awareness and urging for testing. 3) Once a family has been touched with this disease, through fear and genetic potential, they become much more open to discussion with others and it appears we always know someone else that has had this experience. 4) We used to call it senility, or it was termed, ignored or treated as mental illness in the declining age of life. I gave these answers before I saw the above article today. What are your thoughts?
