Love cross-country but don't have pics, sorry. Can you recommend nice places to go cross-countying in the U.S.?

We used to go to Tahoe a lot when I lived in CA...and it's been 15 years and I can't remember the name of my favorite place. My sister is at the family place there right now ...they went this weekend and I felt kind of snow homesick. She also tried snowshoeing for the first time and it kicked her butt (and she has one in shape body).

Now I really want to get back on the snow.

When we went to Mt Rainier earlier this year..the weekend was kind of a disaster. They had the huge flooding and a lot of devastation to the park right after we made our no cancel reservations.

They wouldn't let us into the park but we found great snowsnoeing close by and many trails that people walked on to for the xc skiing folk. I really want to go to Winthrop this year. Something different. Hurricane Ridge here hopefully in a few weeks too.

Cross-country skiing to me is so peaceful, plus it's nice to know that you're not going to be cut off by a snowboarder. Anyone going xc skiing anytime soon?
