When is the cinci flying pig one? I am doing a half this Nov 1 in downtown Indianapolis. I only did my very 1st full marathon last year - the Rock n Roll marathon in San Diego. It's their 10th anniversary and lots of fun.

what did you like best about it? what do you wish were different?

do you plan to do any more marathons, or stick to halves?

I'd suggest that you have to do one of the biggies - Chicago, NYC, Boston (if you can qualify).

One overseas, such as Berlin or Rotterdam.

One 'small town' race - small enough that you'll meet the race director personally, say, Grand Rapids or that one in Wyoming. ;)

Myself, I hope to never run another marathon. But there are still some races I'd like to do. The Dipsea, for example. Pikes Peak. Anything in Van Courtland Park. The Cherry Blossom.

And there's this little ol' race in Atlanta on the 4th of July that holds the record for the best headline ever....

The Rock n Roll marathon in San Diego has a band stationed at every mile marker and they play and sing great!

I will probably do full marathons in the future. The reason for doing a half this time was I felt I registered late and may not have enough time to train.

I'd love to try the Cincy Pig one next May - are you planning on doing it?

i'm not sure if i'm going to do it this year or not --- i might do the half though.

rob, there was some discussion on the runners diaries thread about chicago being so crowded. the new york one looks like great fun though! and although boston is the pinnacle of marathons, i just don't think i have it in me to qualify for that one. who knows though? :)

Well, I am training for the Jingle Bell Run 5K in Rochester in December. I did it a couple of years ago, after never running in my entire life, and would like to give it another shot.

Have you seen the Muddy Buddy Race? They are held all over the country. If you google it you will find the website. THAT looks like a FUN race.. running and biking.I may try to enlist someone to train with me for that one.

My biggest problem is that my hamstrings/calves are soooo tight that it is really painful to run.. even after stretching. If someone has any ideas/suggestions, I would love it.
