I walk with my dog every day I can. Which means 6 to 7 days a week. We walk a minimum of 45 minutes, up to an hour or so. Unless pressed for time, I'll make it a half hour or so. And she lets me know it's time for a walk if I don't start getting ready. She will go to the door and scratch, like she wants out, I'll open the door, and she stands there looking at me looking at her!
I walk every day as well. I thought only my dogs do that!!! *L* My 2 even look at my walking sneakers as if to say...ok mom....it's time...and we mean NOW!
An hour is my average. I'm finally getting a treadmill from a friend who is moving. I am so happy that I will be able to walk indoors when the weather is nasty....snowy....and cold :-)
I take my two dogs for a walk around the mobilehome park I live in every day, unless it's raining. I need to do a lot more because it is only about a mile and it only takes about 15-20 minutes.
I was told that walking at our age group better than running (because of the pressure on heart). I actually walk everyday before working out for a few reasons:
- Keeping in touch with the nature.
- The process of unwinding from a busy day.
- Warming up the body/muscles before lifting weights.
- Boosting endurance as need it for the gym.
This sequence/system has done magic for me. Try it and if you don't like let me know why. I am actually open to learn more techniques that make sense.
I have friends who walk with me 4 days a week. We walk at the beautiful outdoor track at the Civic Center which is two miles around then the duck pond is 5 laps equals 1 mile we do 5 or 6 miles @ trip, and when we do not go there we walk at the Recreation Center where we walk the indoor track at least 4 miles. There we can lift weights ride bikes, do treadmills etc. also and it is indoors. The doctor advised me NOT to run or do the treadmill but all the other things were good.
Sorry, but I approve this message

Weather no longer stops me. I've walked in a downpour (I have a rain poncho) and a blizzard. I'm actually looking forward to walking this winter, other than the ice. I never thought I'd like it, but I really do! And the colder out it is, the better Maya pulls on the harness so we move even faster. And, most importantly, there are less distractions like cats and squirrels. Well, there are squirrels, but they just don't seem to hang out in the snow too much!
