..same here...after 3 knee surgeries I had to stop running....now it's (primarily) swimming.AND just enough cycling to keep me fit enough to do a few tri's every year (I either walk or don't do the running sections). It's great exercise!

I've been at it for several years now after I have to give up running because of knee problems.

I gave it up after I became neutered from my bicycle seat. I still do a spinning class, but with a seat big enough for 2 people.
I've bicycled for years and it was kind of OK.
Got my first low end decent bike this year (Trek 7.2FX) and it's been GREAT. We live near a long cycling trail and have a ball doing it.
I wouldn't call myself a cyclist, but after being under doctors orders to not ride unless it was a recumbent (riding one day gave me a herniated disc in my cervical spine), I found that Giant makes what they call a semi-recumbent bike and I bought one. I usually ride once a week or so, though not much now that it's getting really cold. My hubby though, he takes off and rides for 3 or 4 hours, easy. In good weather he likes to ride 3 or 4 days a week, and he likes to fit in a 100 miler occasionally. I'm not that tough, the bottom goes dead after an hour!

I don't get to ride much during the week as I'm working a second job these days, but I do savor the weekends. Then I get to take some long (2 hour) rides.
Hopefully when the schedule gets a little more normal, I'll be able to get back to weekday riding in the coming months. I've been wanting to some century rides but haven't been able to get in the miles to feel comfortable with taking a chance at it.
I've been riding for 3 years now. It is the most fun group fitness activity there is. Love it.
I hyper-extended a knee during a winter run 'bout six years ago. Made the switch back to road bikes, 20-30 miles is a nice distance for me.
My work schedule has severely limited the available days to ride. So I've tried to get back into running (since I travel a lot), that has been tough.
Whenever I see a rider while driving I'll comment on that lucky b*stard...and the fact that he's smiling if only to himself.
