Just read a terrific adventure fable type novel called The Pirate's Daughter. Male protagonist (lover of title character) seems at first to be a nebbish-y type person (even to himself) but turns out to be courageous and adventurous despite almost paralyzing fear. I LOVE this fictional "real man." Has anybody else read this book? Or any others by Girardi?
