I actually think, all kidding aside, that we should do something. I have been writing some suggestions which I want to send to the WH, but would like to do some sort of mass petition. I am up to 25 pp.

My next door neighbor who is battling cancer just lost a foreclosure battle... Her home is worth about half what she bought it for... her daughter is pregnant... she is getting chemo. She offered to pay rent until the summer. They will go to sheriff's sale and put her out in a month, with her two young kids and new grandkid, and she is getting chemo and constantly nauseous and still going to work every day, two hours away from home. The mortgage company is rushing the foreclosure through because they are afraid the Obama admin. will put a moratorium on foreclosures, as they should... Obama talked about bailouts and other relief from the bottom up. We should take it up.

That is just the sickest thing I've ever heard (what I bolded). How do they think having an empty house is better than working things out with her so she can stay in it???

I think all "bailouts" should be bankruptcy-proof loans, and any financial institute that asks for it should be required to rewrite loans for lower, locked interest rates, and offer deferments to help home owners get back on their feet. Then the money would start coming in again. Yeah, it might cut into their precious profit margins, but not nearly as bad as holding the deeds to a lot of empty homes.

Did you all hear about the lawsuit one financial institute filed against another? I'll have to find a link, it was pretty sick and it showed just how self-serving these SOBs are.

Fortunately, they didn't get their papers in on time, so the sheriff's sale is put off till the end of February. My hope is that something will come through after the inauguration.

Don't count on it. I think the ones that are already in motion, especially as far as hers is in process are pretty much screwed.

It's too late for so many. The gov't right now doesn't care. The new admin has good intentions and may have good plans, but for so many, it's too late.
