Oh wow. Stuff like this just makes me feel like the dumbest ol' hick on the planet when I read it. Thanks though, I'm sure I'll use some of this when I get brave enough to try posting a picture. ;-))

BTW, I'm reasonably sure that growing up in a village of 360 qualifies me as a hick, so 'we' can learn new tricks! (Heck even the University I picked is surrounded by fields!)

The FastStone Image Viewer was free, always a good point. Moreover, it has several functions of better (read expensive) programs.

It doesn't do everything, but it is easy to use. The main window works like File Manager with lots of nice buttons, but the addictive part is when you double-click an image... the image opens onto a full screen where hovering near any of the sides opens a slide out tool bar. Not only intuitive, it's addictive. More than once I found myself in Paint or some other program, ramming my mouse into the side of the screen trying to get to the (non-existant) menu.

The best feature, on the left menu, is a crop board. In their version you can set the aspect ratio for 4:3 and the crop window will keep this aspect, expanding and shrinking to fit the image.

If you have a folder full of images to crop you can page through the images without leaving the crop board. You can also make lossless crops, so that you still have you original, but you have a TBD sized image as well.

For the portrait images you want to show on TBD, you can go to "Canvas Size" [same left menu] and make a white background extend beyond the sides of your shot... always better to add more than you need & then open Crop Board to get rid of the extra.

I'm still learning all the tricks, but it has come in handy if only for cropping and resizing.

I got all the discussion transferred from why not here thread to thousand islands thread. I should have just tried to do it before I asked how. I just have to figure out how to move the pic. GG posted over to the thousand island thread.

I am still getting alerts to newer posts in this and other threads, I can see them from inbox, but when go to discussion they are not on the thread.

I'm wondering if it doesn't remove them while we edit, but not sure.

You can pick up the photos almost the same way.

Right click on the picture you want. A context menu comes up that should have "save this image" or something similar. Note where you save it on your computer, then just repost the image in a new entry. You can edit the long post to mark which image goes with which paragraph.

If you want to pull that question, you can edit away any sentences you've posted or nearly remove the post by editing it down to a period.
