About a month ago my doctor discussed my health with me after I went in for my first Over 50 health checkup. I am 5'-10" and currently weigh 227 pounds. My New years resolution got me down to 242 from 263 by just reducing portion size and a little more exercise. I also cut way down on the Cokes , sweet tea, and Pepsi.
I met my new doctor when I was 242 and according to her, and I agree, I should be down to 180. That sounded like an unsurmountable goal but I listened to her advice, She took three hours to sit with me one on one to discuss diet and health. Her most important cornerstone of her weight loss theory was sugar intake. I have reduced my daily sugar intake from probably over 300 grams of sugar a day down to 10 grams. The results have been outstanding so far and i am excited as this change diet is really working. I have to watch what I eat and can't believe how much sugar was in almost everything I was eating, Even a tablespoon of katsup has 4 grams of sugar. I am now down to 227 and loose weight every time I step on the scale.
Has anyone tried just eliminating sugar from their diet and had success? What else did you do to compliment this type of a diet? I would be very interested in your comments.
